The Companies Commission of Malaysia or SSM is basically a board that is formed through the merging of Register of Business (ROB) and Register of Companies (ROC). The role of SSM is to assist users in the registration, renewal, and rejection of both business and company.
How to register for SSM in Malaysia?
Things you need to know before registering for SSM
I. Application form

Applicants are required to fill in business information including business address.

Applicants are required to fill in additional three company names and one of the three names will be approved for the company. Note that the 2nd and 3rd name will be used as an option in the case the chosen name is rejected.
II. The legitimate name for business
Business Name
A business name that is built up from the official owner name.
Example:
– Robert Yeoh
– Seow Ah Hin
– Muthusamy a/l Subramaniam
Trade Name
Name that is created by the owner for the purpose of advertisement and sales. A trade name is also being used as an e-commerce store name.
Example:
– Kedai Dobi Santai
– Good Luck Catering
– ABC Sempit Enterprise
How you can register your online business with SSM?
For registration, you can either choose to register through offline or online.
A) Offline registration method
Step 1 – Carving out the best company name
For a business starter, you can start by brainstorming with at least three names for your companies. You can either choose your company name to be in the business name or trade name. However, it is more recommended to choose a trade name so that it looks more executive. These names will be included in the PNA 42 Form, and as mentioned above, one of the three names will be approved for the company.
Step 2 – Check the company name availability
You must first register an account through www.ssm-einfo.my to check on the availability of your company name. After gaining access to the portal, you can log in and check the availability of your company name. If your search result appears after your search, this means that your desire name had been taken. If it shows zero results, this shows that your company name is currently available.

Step 3 – Applying for Form PNA 42
For an owner who registers under a trade name, they are required to fill in the form together with their three suggested name followed by the nature of their business.
Step 4 – Applying for Form A
Fill in the require information and attach both Form A and Form PNA 42 if you are registering for a trade name.
Step 5 – Head to the SSM main office
Things to bring to the office are your identity card and both of the forms.
B) Online registration method
Before you begin to register online, one of the things you have to understands is the EzBiz portal. EzBiz is an official online business registration portal provided by Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia (SSM) to allow the user to register for new business, changes in business particulars, terminate and purchase business information. Therefore, user’s must first create an account from Ezbiz and go to the nearest SSM office to acquire the one-time activation before registering your business through online. I) Creating EzBiz account for an online user
Step 1:- Go to the portal page of ezbiz.ssm.com.my
Step 2:- Click sign up on the button next to “Forgot Password”
Step 3:- Select NRIC (National Registration Identity Card) as your IP type
Step 4:- Fill in your IC number and name details.
Step 5:- Go to the nearest SSM office with your IC Card for thumbprint and account activation.
II) Online business registration
Step 1:- Log in to your account on ezbiz.ssm.cm.my
Step 2:- Select My Business Service > New Business Registration
Step 3:- For the first section (Main Information), fill in your personal details of Ref No., Name
Type, Business Name, Business Start Date, Business Address and Registration Period.
Step 4:- For the second section (Branches), only fill in this section if you have an applicable
branch out business.
Step 5:- For the third section (Business Code), fill in your business code based on the
given reference table.
Step 6:- For the fourth section (Owners), fill in your personal information.
Step 7:- For the last section (Fees and Declaration), you can make your payment through online
banking or credit card.
